SAN JOSE - SaberCats WR/DB Rodney Wright (5-9, 181) earned the league's JLS Ironman of the Week honors for his efforts in a 60-57 victory over the Kansas City Command in Week 2.
"Rodney is one of the most explosive players in the AFL and is a threat whenever he gets the ball in his hands," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "I'm excited that he's getting recognition for his game in Week 2 and hopefully it's just the beginning of a great season for him."
Wright posted the highest all-purpose total in the league this season with 298 yards (133 receiving, 164 returning, 1 rushing). He became only the second person in the AFL this season to record both a receiving and returning touchdown and tied a franchise record for the longest kick return touchdown (58 yards), marking only the fourth time in team history a player has returned a kick 58 yards.
