SaberCats Assigned WR Bakari Grant

SAN JOSE - The San Jose SaberCats today announced the assignment of wide receiver Bakari Grant. Per team policy, terms were not disclosed.

"Bakari is a tall, physical receiver who enjoyed an outstanding career at UC-Davis," SaberCats Head Coach Darren Arbet said. "He has NFL experience after working with the 49ers this offseason and we are very excited to have him as a part of our team for the 2011 season."

Prior to joining the SaberCats, he spent the 2010 offseason with the San Francisco 49ers where he was signed after working out for the team on a tryout basis.

Grant (6-4, 195) caught 154 passes for 1,937 yards and 18 touchdowns in 39 games at UC-Davis, earning All-Great West Conference honors three times in four seasons. As a senior, Grant recorded 45 catches for 584 yards and five touchdowns, earning first-team All-Great West Conference recognition.

Grant, a native of Oakland, CA, attended Saint Elizabeth High School (CA) where he earned all-league honors twice at quarterback and team MVP honors as a senior.

The XVI, XVIII and XXI ArenaBowl champion, San Jose SaberCats, return to the Arena Football League for their 15th season starting in 2011.
