Kansas City Arena League Team to Hold Open Tryouts

Kansas City, MO-- The Kansas City Team of the Arena Football League has set their first open tryout date for the upcoming 2011 season. The first open tryout will take place at the Kansas City SoccerDome which is located at 5909 Equitable Road in Kansas City, MO. Tryouts will be held on Sunday, October 10th, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Prospects can download a registration form at www.kcarenafootball.com to bring in on the day of the tryout, or they can preregister by faxing the form to 913-381-2782. (Coaches can become familiar with preregistrants' experience.) On tryout day, cash or money orders made out to Kansas City Arena League Team. The entry fee is $50. Prospects will be broken down into two groups. The format will consist of a variety of physical tests, including; 1) the vertical jump, 2) shuttle run, 3) 40 yard dash, and 4) the broad jump. Participants will be timed and measured in all of these events. After an evaluation of each participant's times and scores, the group will be reduced to a number of individuals who will be asked to participate in select physical drills. Another evaluation will leave the remaining to participate in skill drills which are related to Arena Football. There will not be any contact drills.

General Manager Kevin Porter and Head Coach Danton Barto and the team staff will attend the tryout to assist potential players. Prospects that impress will be invited to an elite workout evaluating football skills. Select players have a chance to attend the 2010 Kansas City Arena Team training camp beginning in February.

Tryouts will be held on an indoor surface, so players should dress accordingly. Players should wear shirts, shorts, and grass/turf cleats; no helmets or pads will be necessary.

Tryout notes:

* Prospects must be 18 years of age by October 10th, 2010 and completed high school football eligibility to participate in tryout.

* OL/DL/FB/LB registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and workout will begin at 10:00 a.m.

* WR/DB/RB/QB registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and workout will begin at 11:00 a.m.

* Registration forms can be found at www.kcarenafootball.com .

* Registration form and payment must be turned in the day of the tryout. Bring cash or money orders made out to "Kansas City Arena League Team". Fax # is 913-381-2782.

* There will be no kicking tryout. These will be held at a later date.
