Minnesota Swarm forward Ryan Benesch was named the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week, as well as being named Offensive Player of the week, for his impressive performance in Week #2 of the 2011 NLL Season. Benesch scored seven goals to go along with four assists in a 16-8 win at the defending champion Washington Stealth on January 14th. The seven goals set a new Swarm franchise record for most scored in a regular season game. The 11 points also tie a franchise record set by Benesch last season, when he recorded two goals and nine assists in a 17-13 victory at Calgary on March 26, 2010. The Week #2 awards are for the games played on the weekend of January 14th-15th.

Benesch's teammate, Swarm goaltender Nick Patterson, was named Defensive Player of the Week. Patterson recorded 50 saves on 58 shots and picked up his first win of the season in a 16-8 win at Washington.

The Transition Player of the Week was Mark Steenhuis of the Buffalo Bandits. Steenhuis scored a goal, collected two assists, and recovered four loose balls in a 9-6 win at Philadelphia.

Rochester Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson was named Rookie of the Week. Jamieson recorded his first professional hat trick (three goals) to go along with three assists in a six-point effort. He also collected four loose balls in Rochester's 12-9 loss to Toronto.

The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by a vote of the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league's ten member clubs.
