
Rush to Host Local Tryout Camp

September 4, 2002 â The Chicago Rush will give Chicagoland football players a chance to earn a spot on its 2003 training camp roster when it holds open tryouts Thursday, September 26, and Friday, September 27. The tryouts will take place at the team's practice facility, Soccer Enterprise, from 8 a.m. to noon daily. Soccer Enterprise is located at 573 South Consumers Drive in Palatine.
The open tryout on Thursday will be for those wishing to play offensive line, defensive line, fullback or linebacker, while Friday's tryout will be for players who aspire to play quarterback, wide receiver or defensive back.
All attending players will be put through a series of tests to measure speed, strength and agility. The tests will be followed by a series of offensive and defensive drills.
Players hoping to impress the Rush coaching staff must register in advance by calling Jeff Henderson at (847) 590-8430. There will be a $50 registration fee and players will be required to bring their own T-shirt, practice shorts and running shoes.
The Rush finished its 2002 season with a 10-6 overall record and advanced to the AFL semifinals. Training camp for the 2003 season will open in January 2003 with the regular season scheduled to begin the first weekend in February.
