Rush To Honor Military On Armed Forces Day

May 3, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Chicago Rush News Release

The Chicago Rush will salute the military at its May 15 home game against the Iowa Barnstormers, the team announced today.

The Rush-Barnstormers game falls on Armed Forces Day - an annual time when Americans pay tribute to the men and women who serve the United States' armed forces - giving the Rush the perfect opportunity to recognize those who have dedicated their lives to the military.

Nearly 1,000 active and retired members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines will be present at the game and will be honored both before and during the game.

"The Rush, Barnstormers and the entire Arena Football League have a great respect for what the men and women of the military do for our country," said Ken Valdiserri, Rush president/GM. "It gives us great pleasure to be able to recognize these dedicated individuals at the game."

"This is a once in a lifetime event," said Boastwaines Mate First Class Adriane Christian, who is assigned to Center for Surface Combat Systems, Great Lakes. "I would be honored to share this part of Naval history with the fans of Chicago where I was born and raised and my family."

In addition to recognizing each branch of service during the game, select members will be involved during the pregame activities, including being introduced with Rush players during the starting lineups and serving as honorary captains during the ceremonial coin-toss.

At halftime, the Rush will host the inaugural Chicago Rush Heroes Cup, a tug-of-war competition on the field between the different branches of service, with the winning unit taking away the Chicago Rush Heroes Cup trophy.

Finally, any active service man or woman who comes to the game dressed in their full uniform will receive free parking courtesy of the Village of Rosemont.

Fans wishing to attend the game and show their support for our nation's heroes may purchase tickets by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets - which range in price from $10 to $60 - also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena.
