May 5, 2008 - For an athlete or sports team, the ultimate achievement is winning a championship. Aside from a title, perhaps the next crowning achievement in sports is being selected to appear in one of ESPN's legendary "This is SportsCenter" commercials.

That rare honor now has been bestowed upon the Chicago Rush, as the team is set to join a short but prestigious list of famous Chicagoans including Ozzie Guillen and Paul Konerko who have appeared in the commercials.

Last week, seven Chicago Rush players, along with head coach Mike Hohensee, flew to Bristol, Conn., on their day off to film the latest installment in the "This is SportsCenter" commercial series.

The group, which included DeJuan Alfonzo, Dan Alexander, James Baron, Sherdrick Bonner, Damian Harrell, John Moyer and Jeremy Unertl, shot two different commercials with ESPN anchor John Anderson, one of which is expected to debut in late May.

"It was one of the best experiences I've had as a professional athlete," said Alfonzo. "I think everybody is going to love the spots. I think they will be really funny."

"It was a very memorable experience from start to finish," said Moyer. "The ESPN campus was an extraordinary sight, and the production went smoothly. I can't wait to see the finished products."

"It was exciting to have the Rush as the first Arena Football League team to participate in the ‘This is SportsCenter' campaign," said Seth Ader, ESPN senior director of ESPN Marketing. "They were a pleasure to work with and we hope the team and its fans enjoy the spot."

ESPN's "This is SportsCenter" promotional campaign began in 1994 and has included more than 300 commercials. The popular and critically acclaimed campaign has been selected by TV Guide as one of the greatest television campaigns of all-time and has featured sports and entertainment stars such as Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Jon Bon Jovi, and Payton and Eli Manning.
