
Rush McMillen to be honored

November 21, 2005 - Chicago Rush FB/LB Bob McMillen will be honored with a Hometown Hero humanitarian award for his work in the Chicagoland community at the 18th annual Chicago Sports Fans Choice Awards on December 8.
McMillen, the team's two-time winner of its Walter Payton award for community service, serves as a spokesperson for the Little City Foundation, which provides state-of-the art services to help children and adults with mental retardation or other developmental, emotional and behavioral challenges to lead meaningful, productive and dignified lives. This fall, McMillen was especially involved with the "Ride for Smiles" and "Tag Days" benefiting Little City.
In addition, McMillen has made visits to schools in conjunction with the team's "Rush to Read" program, spoken to young football players during the team's annual caravan of youth football clinics and brought smiles to the faces of children at various hospital visits.
On the field, McMillen is entering his 12th season has rushed for 1,328 career yards. He needs just 55 rushing yards to eclipse the all-time AFL record for career rushing yards.
"Bob McMillen truly is the complete athlete," said Rush president/general manager Mike Polisky. "Not only is he a great football player, but he is an even better human being. He goes out of his way to put smiles on kids' faces and the entire organization in proud that he is being recognized for his efforts."
In addition, Rush lineman John Moyer and offensive specialist C.J. Johnson also are nominated for awards. Moyer is nominated in the Most Valuable Player category along with representatives from all other Chicago teams, while Johnson is nominated in the Rising Star category.

The awards banquet will be taped and broadcast on Comcast Sports Net Saturday, December 17, at 8:30 p.m.
The Chicago Rush kicks of its season January 29, 2006, at Colorado. The Rush home opener is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 3, against the New York Dragons.
