Rush introduces youth football Ironman award
August 15, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
The Chicago Rush will recognize some of Chicagoland's best young football players - on and off the field - with the creation of its Youth Football Ironman of the Year award, the team announced today.
The Ironman of the Year award will recognize one player from each participating youth football team who best exemplifies sportsmanship, leadership and on-field productivity.
The award is patterned after the Arena Football League's Ironman style in which players perform in all three facets of the game - offense, defense and special teams. With the Youth Football Ironman of the Year award, the winners will be selected based upon three integral facets of their game: sportsmanship, leadership and playing ability.
Each team's winner will be chosen in November and will receive a congratulatory letter from Rush owner Mike Ditka, a Chicago Rush Ironman of the Year T-shirt and two complimentary tickets to a 2006 Chicago Rush home game.
"Chicagoland youth football leagues develop some very talented players," said Rush president/general manager Mike Polisky. "But with this award we want to recognize the players who also demonstrate sportsmanship, leadership and dedication to their teams."
To enroll their team in the program, youth football coaches need only to contact Jeff Martin at (773) 243-3438 or jmartin@chicagorush.com by September 2.
