Nashville Kats News Release
NASHVILLE (Aug. 15, 2005) - In an effort to strengthen its ties with youth and high school football leagues in Middle Tennessee, the Nashville Kats have announced a pair of agreements that will extend the Arena Football League team's community presence this Fall.
The Kats are partnering with Comcast as a sponsor of the cable provider's Friday Night High School Football package, in which they air a key local prep game each week on Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS). The package, which begins its fifth season this week with a game between Brentwood Academy and Hillcrest Christian, will once again feature Kats head coach Pat Sperduto as the color analyst, and will also feature regular interviews and guest appearances from Kats players. The Kats will also present an "Ironman of the Game" to the best two-way player for each contest in the 11-game package, and the team will have a player on hand at each game to sign autographs and give away team merchandise.
In a separate agreement, the Kats have also partnered with the Nashville Sports Council and the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl Presented By Bridgestone to be part of that organization's youth football program. The highly-successful program makes a positive impact on participants from 20 different youth leagues in Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky and Northern Alabama, providing financial support for leagues which serve more than 22,000 players, cheerleaders and coaches around the region. The Kats' involvement will take them to several league jamborees and championships throughout the Fall, where players will sign autographs, pose for pictures and give away team merchandise. The team will also hold a special Youth Football Night at one of its 2006 home games, where they will provide participants with a ticket to the game, a meal and entry into a special "Ironman Skills Competition," which will allow young players to compete in skills such as running, kicking and passing. The official date for the event will be announced when the Kats' 2006 schedule is announced in the coming weeks.
"We are very excited to be part of these two outstanding programs," said Bob Flynn, the Kats' general manager. "One of our biggest goals this offseason was to extend our community involvement into youth and high school football, and who better to partner with to make that happen than Comcast and the Nashville Sports Council? Being part of these programs allows us to get out in Nashville and the surrounding communities and show the people how much we value their support by being part of these events that mean so much to everyone. Football is something that touches nearly everyone in a year-round way in this community, and we want to be involved on a year-round basis."
The Nashville Kats' 2006 season will begin in January. The team plays its home games at the Gaylord Enteratinment Center, and season tickets are on sale by calling 615-565-4700 and by logging on to www.katsonline.com.
