Quad City Mallards News Release
RAPID CITY, S.D. (April 15, 2014) - Anthony Perdicaro and Scott Wray both scored and Tim Boron made 18 saves as the host Rapid City Rush held off a late Quad City Mallard comeback bid on the way to a 2-1 victory Tuesday night that evens the best-of-seven opening round of the Central Hockey League President's Cup playoffs at three games apiece and forces a seventh and deciding game tomorrow night in Rapid City.
Perdicaro's wraparound goal gave the Rush a 1-0 lead with just a minute and 27 seconds left in the first period.
Wray buried Scott Brannon's centering pass to double the Rapid City advantage at 9:25 of the second period.
After the Mallards pulled goaltender Ty Rimmer for an extra attacker, Jordan Mayer snapped the puck home from the slot with 65 seconds left in regulation to narrow the margin to 2-1 but the Mallards' hopes of completing a remarkable rally were dealt what proved to be a fatal blow when Quad City's Nicholas Rioux was penalized with just 56 seconds remaining.
