Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - On Tuesday night, the Rapid City Rush fell to the Colorado Eagles 4-1 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Colorado struck for the game's first three goals while goaltender Kyle Jones stopped 32 shots for his 13th win of the season. The Rush are back in action this Friday and Saturday against the Evansville IceMen at the RPCC. Both games are set for a 7:05pm start and tickets are still available.

Colorado came out gunning in the first half of the opening period, collecting a pair of goals before the seven minute mark. The first was a powerplay goal at the 2:59 mark from Daymen Rycroft who collected his 21st of the year. Defenseman Aaron Schneekloth fired a shot from the point that was deflected by Rycroft and in for the 1-0 lead. Colorado doubled the lead when Schneekloth collected a goal of his own, sending a slapshot home from the right point. The goal at 6:52 ended the night for Rush goaltender Danny Battochio, making way for Tim Boron to step in for the remainder of the contest.

The teams exchanged powerplay goals in the second period, and Colorado was the first to strike. Adam Hogg centered a pass that was blocked by the outstretched stick of Boron, but ricocheted off of Dan Sullivan and in for the 3-0 lead. The Rush would finally get on the board with 43 seconds left in the period when Ryan Menei's centering attempt redirected in for his team-leading 21st goal of the season.

The Eagles would put the game out of reach when Steve Haddon fired a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle that gave Colorado a 4-1 lead with less than four minutes left in regulation.

The Rush have lost seven out of nine games against Colorado, despite outshooting the Eagles in seven of nine.
