Chicago Rush News Release

October 20, 2005 - The Rush today bolstered its receiving corps with the signing of 2005 All-Ironman WR/LB Cornelius White to a one-year contract.

"Cornelius White is one of the most complete football players available as a free agent this off-season," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "He is outstanding on defense and a threat on both offense and special teams. It helps that he is familiar with the organization, having played with us in 2002. He is one of the players who we expect will be a difference maker all year."

White (6-0, 190, Virginia Tech), returns to Chicago for his second stint with the Rush after spending the last three seasons with the Buffalo/Columbus Destroyers. The eight-year veteran had perhaps the best year of his career in 2005, recording 42 tackles and catching a career-high 91 passes for 1,135 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was the Destroyers' second-leading receiver and fourth-leading tackler, and was named to the AFL's 2005 All-Ironman team.

In addition the Rush announced it has signed rookie lineman Bobby Leffew and rookie defensive specialist Brandon Williams to three-year contracts.

Leffew (6-4, 289, Louisville) joins the Rush after an outstanding four-year career at the University of Louisville (2001-2004), where he played in 44 games and recorded 132 tackles and 12.5 sacks.

Williams (6-3, 202, TCU) was a three-year letter winner (2001-2003), playing both safety and cornerback while at TCU.

The Rush roster now includes 33 players. Teams are allowed to bring 37 players to training camp in January, but must cut down to 24 by opening day.
