Chicago Rush News Release
The Chicago Rush juggled its roster prior to Sunday afternoon's game against the Nashville Kats, activating three rookies and placing two starters on injured reserve. The Rush placed defensive specialist Tony Lukins and WR/LB Jeremy McDaniel on IR, and activated WR/DB Carlos Wright and defensive specialist Todd Howard from the injured list. In addition, the team promoted offensive specialist C.J. Johnson from its practice squad to its active roster.
Lukins, one of Chicago's two starting defensive specialists, is the team's third-leading tackler, recording 18.5 tackles and one pass broken up in four games this season. Lukins missed the team's game against Philadelphia with the same ankle injury that has landed him on IR this week.
McDaniel injured his knee in practice after posting back-to-back solid performances while filling in for the injured Henry Douglas. McDaniel caught 14 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns in the team's last two games.
Both Lukins and McDaniel will miss a minimum of two weeks.
Wright, Howard and Johnson will make their AFL debuts this Sunday. All three are rookies who have been with the Rush since training camp. Both Wright (abdominal strain) and Howard (hamstring) were injured during camp and finally are ready to play. Johnson was released at the end of camp, but was re-signed to the team's practice squad. He will be called into action due to McDaniel's injury.
The Rush (2-3) hosts Bud Adams' expansion Nashville Kats (1-4) Sunday at 2 p.m. at Allstate Arena. Fans wishing to purchase tickets to the game, or any remaining Rush home game, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com.
