Runners Visit North Fairview

The Topeka RoadRunners visited North Fairview Elementary School this week as part of their "Reading with the RoadRunners" initiative. Seth Kamrass, Will Scherer, Sam Rennaker, and Jack Kelly were on hand to help reinforce the values of education, hard work, literacy, and RoadRunners hockey.
The Reading with the RoadRunners program, in partnership with Cold Stone Creamery, is another facet of the team's mission to excel both on and off the ice. For the children at North Fairview, it was an opportunity to engage with prominent local athletes in a classroom setting. Through a question and answer session, the students got to learn about hockey, the work that goes into performing at a high level, and the importance pursuing higher education. For the players, it was a chance to interact with the community, hone important public speaking skills, and to impart a valuable lesson about literacy. At the end of the visit, each child received a Cold Stone bookmark that can be redeemed for a free ice cream once the student completes five reading assignments.

The RoadRunners hit the road again to take on the Lone Star Brahmas this Friday and Saturday night. The games can be seen live at the Official Away Game Viewing Parties at The Lazy Toad Restaurant (Friday, 7:30pm) and Skinny's Sports Bar & Grill (Saturday, 7:30pm). The games are also broadcast live on Sports Radio 1490 KTOP.
