
Ruff Riders Acquire Stand-Out Defensive Prospect

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders announced on Friday, February 6, 2009 that DB Darvin Peterson has been acquired for the 2009 season. Peterson (5'10", 200 lbs.) is a graduate of W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas and he attended both Tyler Junior College, and Texas A&M Commerce. While at W.H. Adamson High School, Peterson was a three time All-District Wide Receiver and Defensive Back. Peterson also received awards for 1st Team Division II AFCA All-American Safety, Lonestar Conference Defensive Back of the Year, 2nd Team Dan Hansen's Football Gazette Division II All-American Safety and 1st Team All-Southwest at the Safety position.
Peterson will be entering his third season with the Ruff Riders organization. In 2007, while the organization was in Katy, Peterson was named Defensive Player of the Week in Week 16 of the IFL (Intense Football League). Peterson finished 2007 as the league's third leading tackler and the leading tackler for the Ruff Riders.
Peterson compiled another impressive season with the Ruff Riders in 2008. He once again led the Ruff Riders in total tackles and interceptions. Peterson set an IFL (Intense Football League) record by registering over 17 tackles in a single game in '08. Peterson will be a stand-out player in the secondary for Abilene this season and a definite leader on the field.
