Greeneville Astros News Release
Greeneville, TN - The Burlington Royals (22-28) shutout the Greeneville Astros (26-24), 3-0, on Tuesday night at Pioneer Park to give them their second straight victory and clinch a series win.
The Royals wasted no time taking the lead in the game as Leland Clemmons hit a leadoff homer in the top of the first inning. Then, a RBI single by Ryan Dale in the fourth inning and another by Brian Fletcher in the fifth accounted for all the scoring.
The Astros finished with only three hits on the night, two of which came from leadoff man Edwin Medina. However, they still had their opportunities to score. In four different innings, they had runners at third base but were simply unable knock them home.
Royals' starter Yunior Marte struck out three and walked four as he allowed just two hits over five scoreless innings to earn the win. Later, Cole Way pitched the final two innings to complete the game, allowing one hit and striking out two as he picked up the save.
The Astros, still second in the Appalachian League West, will begin a new three-game series on Wednesday as they visit the division-leading Elizabethton Twins. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
