Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros (26-23) jumped out to an early lead but were eventually defeated, 4-2, by the Burlington Royals (21-28) on Monday night at Pioneer Park.

In the first inning, the Astros got on the scoreboard when Antonio Nunez scored all the way from second base on a Royals' fielding error. However, their early lead would not hold up.

The Royals scored on a D.J. Burt RBI single to even the score in the second inning. In the third, Logan Moon's sacrifice fly gave them the lead. Then, in the fourth, Chase Vallot scored on a wild pitch and Manny Olloque added one more score on a sacrifice fly to put the Royals on top, 4-1.

The Astros came back in the bottom of the fourth with a run on a Jeffry Santos ground out that score Luis Reynoso, who led the Astros by going two-for-four on the night. That score narrowed the Royals' lead to two and set up a chance for the Astros to make the game very interesting at the end.

Bryan Muniz led off the bottom of the ninth for the Astros with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Then Alexander Melendez, who was making his Greeneville Astros debut, got on base with a throwing error by the catcher following a strikeout. However, with runners at the corners and no outs, the next three batters were retired to leave the runners stranded.

Royals starting pitcher Niklas Stephenson picked up the win as he struck out eight batters over six innings and gave up two runs on three hits, although just one was earned. Then, Estarlin Cordero entered in the ninth, gave up one hit and struck out two to get the save.

With the three-game series tied at one game apiece, the Astros will square off against the Royals in the rubber match on Tuesday night at Pioneer Park. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
