New Mexico Scorpions News Release

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Scorpions of the Central Hockey League announced today that the Fort Worth Brahmas have acquired the 2003-04 season rights to right wing Jasmin Roy (WAH) to complete the trade that brought Jeff Cameron to the Scorpions on Jan. 9.

Roy, 23, recorded 14 points (7g-7a) in 21 regular season games after coming to the Scorpions from Oklahoma City on Feb. 3. The rookie from St. Eustache, Quebec has a goal and an assist in four playoff games with New Mexico. In 60 games with the Blazers and Scorpions, Roy posted 24 points (13g-11a).

Cameron, 21, was selected as the team's rookie of the year with two goals and 16 points in 31 games after joining the Scorpions.

"It's disappointing to lose a guy like Jasmin," said Scorpions Head Coach/Assistant General Manager Bill McDonald. "He is a talented young player who really came into his own over the last month of the season playing with Ben Gorewich and Tyler Baines. We were hoping to be able to hold on to him but unfortunately we were only able to protect a certain number of players. Fort Worth saw his upside and chose him.

The Scorpions and the City of Albuquerque will be hosting the 2004 CHL All-Star Game at Tingley Coliseum in January. The date and time for the event will be announced this summer. Season tickets for the 2003-2004 season start as low as $320, as season ticket prices have not changed. For more information, call the Scorpions office at (505) 881-PUCK (7825).
