Rowdies Notch 3-1 Win at Tormenta FC

Tampa Bay Rowdies News Release
The Tampa Bay Rowdies came away from their first road test of the year with a victory, defeating 2022 USL League One championship South Georgia Tormenta FC 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Optim Sports Medicine Field. Conner Antley - a former member of Tormenta FC - notched a brace for the Rowdies while Forrest Lasso tallied another to seal the result.
Fresh off a Wednesday matchup against SIMA back at Al Lang Stadium, the Rowdies looked eager to start Saturday's match in Statesboro, Georgia on the front foot. Two ex-Tormenta FC players connected for the Rowdies' opening goal in the 32nd minute as Charlie Dennis lofted a cross from the left endline that took one bounce before Antley smashed it into the back of the net.
The hosts answered with an equalizer only three minutes later, but the Rowdies were equally as swift to retake the lead off of a set piece in the 39th minute. Lewis Hilton delivered a curling corner kick for into the center of the box for center back Forrest Lasso to redirect the ball into the goal. The tally is the second time this preseason that Hilton and Lasso have collaborated to convert on a corner kick.
Tampa Bay managed to ride out the rest of the match relatively comfortably, with Antley providing an insurance goal in the 69th minute. This time, Antley buried a chance in front of goal with his left foot after Tormenta FC failed to clear a dangerous cross sent in by Sebastian Dalgaard.
Tampa Bay's previously scheduled preseason match against Orlando City B for this coming Tuesday has been canceled. The Rowdies will now close out the preseason with a matchup against the University of South Florida on Friday, March 3.
