Tampa Bay Rowdies News Release
TAMPA, Fla. (March 22, 2013) -- The Tampa Bay Rowdies were part of a unique experience on Thursday night, parading as the Grand Marshalls of the 2013 Illuminated Night Parade. The Rowdies helped kick off the race, alongside floats, marching bands, neighborhood associations, dance troupes and the Grand Prix drivers in their show cars.
"It was incredible to receive this type of recognition," commented defender Daniel Scott. "Not everybody gets to be involved in this St. Pete tradition, and for us to be invited is a great honor."
Head Coach Ricky Hill led the team in the Grand Marshall car, giving those who attended another chance to photograph the NASL Soccer Bowl Trophy. Behind Hill, was the Rowdies trolley filled with an energetic team that was eager to mingle with those that made it out to the parade. The Rowdies entourage was completed with a group of Ralph's Mob, who throughout the entire parade offered their vocal support just like they do in the stands on gameday.
"We feel the community has always embraced us as their team," said Hill. "With that being said, moments like these are great to reinforce the relationship we have with the Tampa Bay community. The support they have always granted us both on and off the field was demonstrated at tonight's parade."
The NASL Champions continue their 2013 Preseason Tour as they take on the Saint Leo University Lions on Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be played at West Pasco Youth Soccer Association's Mitchell Fields, located at 4025 Little Rd, New Port Richey, FL 34655. Admission will be free.
