September 7, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release

The Tulsa Roughnecks FC continues its trip to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday, September 9 for its second of two meetings this season with the Portland Timbers 2. Kickoff at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CDT. It will be the last of five straight away matches for TRFC.

Tulsa will enter the match coming off a disappointing 4-4 draw to the Seattle Sounders 2. Before that, the Roughnecks dropped three straight one-goal losses to the Real Monarchs, Saint Louis FC and the Swope Park Rangers. TRFC is 2-5-4 since Michael Nsien took over the team.

On Wednesday, the Roughnecks were faced with a golden opportunity to win their first game away from ONEOK Field this season. Tulsa led Seattle 4-1 in the 59th minute behind a hat trick from Jesus Ferreira, the first in the history of the franchise. Seattle chipped away in the final third of the match, and scored the tying goal with the match's final shot.

The Timbers 2 are 8-7-0 at home this season. Portland is coming off a 1-0 home win against Saint Louis FC, and has won three out of its last four home matches.

The Roughnecks and Timbers 2 battled to a 0-0 draw at ONEOK Field back on April 4. It was one of only two clean sheets for the Roughnecks this season.

Portland is 4-1-0 in its last five matches, and is currently in fifth place in the Western Conference. Tulsa is still without a victory away from ONEOK Field, going 0-7-6 in 13 away matches.

Sunday's match will be streamed live on ESPN+ for all fans with a subscription to the service.
