Rough Riders Unveil 2006 Schedule

The Long Island Rough Riders have unveiled the 2006 Men's Professional Team schedule, with the home opener taking place against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, NY.

The Rough Riders will play ten home games, with nine being held at Mitchel Athletic Complex. The team will continue its annual tradition of playing one home game at Stony Brook University on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, when they face the Western Mass Pioneers. The team will also welcome back Division 2 champion Charlotte Eagles on Saturday, July 1, 2006.

Long Island is eagerly anticipating the debut of new head coach Flavio Ferri, who was chosen to lead the club in October. Ferri, a former Rough Riders player himself, will look to lead the team to the playoffs for the first time in two seasons. The Rough Riders were Division 2 National Champions in 2002.

Following the 2005 season, Division 2 of the USL underwent a small adjustment. The Northern Virginia Royals moved from Division 2 to the Premier Development League, leaving a spot open for the Richmond Kickers to transfer from Division 1 to Division 2.

FLEX tickets, which include all Season Ticket benefits except reserved seating, are also available for $100 through January 31, 2006.
