Globall FC to manage youth operation in 2004
(Long Island, NY, Nov. 20, 2003) â The Long Island Rough Riders announced today that Globall FC will be managing the youth component of the professional franchise. This effort will be spearheaded by Peter Zaratin, President of Globall FC.
"We will create a fully integrated professional development program tied to the professional team. Globall FC is committed to providing a platform whereby talented players can compete on a national level and be identified through the ODP program. It is our desire to do this without compromising a player's commitment to their home clubs. While this will not happen overnight, it is one of our goals", said Zaratin.
The Long Island Rough Riders and Globall FC are in process of creating mutually rewarding relationships, including relationships with other training organizations to provide a conduit for the national model of the USL and the Super Y League.
The Super Y League is an elite youth development league, and national platform that has grown to over 700 teams, which is an expediential increase for the original pilot of 16 teams back in 1999. Today the Super Y League is widely regarded as the forum for national team scouts, as well as college and professional coaches to identify players.
Globall FC will be announcing their open tryouts shortly and will be allowed to enter up to two teams in each age group, in both the boys and girls divisions. "We are providing a platform for youth players who have the aspirations to play at the highest level" says Jim Kilmeade, the new General Manager of the Long Island Rough Riders. Zaratin continues; "Over the next several months we will be revealing a series of very exciting programs as we continue to reach out to the Long Island soccer community".
Established in 1994, The Long Island Rough Riders were inducted into the United Soccer League Hall of Fame on November 8 in Clearwater, Fla. The franchise won the Pro League National Championship in 1995. In 2002, the Rough Riders would return to the third division, where they would win their second championship seven years later. The club has been in the playoffs nine times in ten seasons overall. For more information, please visit www.rough-riders.com or call the public relations department at (631) 940-3825.
