
Rogues Take Down Gold Sox in Game Two

Medford, Oregon - The Medford Rogues faced the visiting Marysville Gold Sox in game two of the series at Harry and David Field and beat the #2 team in the league, 13-4. The Rogues stay atop the Great West League with an overall 27-11 record and the Gold Sox fall to 22-17. Marysville jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning off an RBI by Hunter Stratton but the Rogues answered in the fourth off a 2-run home run by Connor Lowrie and the Rogues led 3-2. Then in the sixth inning, Medford scored 10 runs off of 9 hits and 16 batters faced 3 different Marysville pitchers. Spencer Steer had a bases clearing triple that scored three of the runs. Gold Sox plated two more runs in the eighth off a Kyle Hoffman single but the Rogues held on to the 13-4 win. At the plate, Rogues bats were hot especially for Spencer Steer who went 3-for-4 with an RBI triple, stolen base and a run scored. Connor Lowrie had his third home run of the season with a 2-run shot over the left field fence in the fourth inning. Lowrie then had a double in the sixth and scored two more runs. Parker Kelly went 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored two runs for the Rogues. On the mound, Dylan Pearce earned another start for the Rogues and went 7 innings and gave up 7 hits. He struck out 4 batters and walked 2; he gave up 2 runs. Bryon Foust came in relief in the eighth inning but walked four batters and gave up a run. Colton Westfall finished the eighth and gave up 1 run on 1 hit. Kelly pitched the ninth striking out one and retiring the side with no runs on no hits. The Rogues head to Marysville for a Thursday night matchup in Marysville at 7:05pm and then head to Chico for a weekend series before the Great West League All-Star Game, July 25-26.
