Rogues Lose on Walk-Off

MARYSVILLE, Ca. - The Medford Rogues (2-2) fell to the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox (1-1**) 7-6 on Friday night at Colusa Casino Stadium.

Joe Bath (Iowa Western CC) continued to crush the baseball. He doubled over the left fielder's head to score Chad Pike (IMG Academy) in the first to give the Rogues an early lead.

The Gold Sox answered with a five run second inning and held the lead until the eighth.

Daniel Nist (California State - Bakersfield) hit two home runs, a solo shot to centerfield to bring the Rogues within one in the sixth, and then homered again the eighth to tie the game. In the next at bat, Cole Elvis (University of California - Berkeley) went back to back with Nist with a solo shot of his own to give the Rogues the lead, 6-5.

In the bottom of the ninth, Nick Ultsch hit a walk-off two-run home run to defeat the Rogues 7-6.

Chase Spinning (Saddleback College) came on in relief of Walker Brinkman (San Jose State) in the 4th. He fired four innings of scoreless baseball with six strikeouts.

The Rogues will play game two of this series against the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox on Saturday night. After that series, they will move on to play a two-game series against the San Francisco Seals at Alameda College, starting on June 4th.

The Rogues will return home on Sunday, June 10th for Country Night, featuring a post-game concert by Fogline. It is also a Fred Meyer Family Fun Sunday. Fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas for just $44 for Sunday home games. For each ticket package sold, the Rogues will donate $4 to Access, as part of their Zero Waste Zero Hunger campaign.
