San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls and centerman Alex Rogosheske have agreed to terms for the 2006-07 season, General Manager Martin St. Amour announced Tuesday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rogosheske, who turned 25 April 17, had three points (1g, 2a) and 42 penalty minutes in 29 games for the Gulls last season, his rookie year. His season was cut short however due to a knee injury suffered in early January. Rogosheske suffered a torn ACL Jan. 6 against Idaho and missed the rest of the regular season and playoffs. He has made a full recovery and will be ready to go for training camp.
"Rogo is the ultimate team player and I'm thrilled that we'll have him back next season," St. Amour said. "It was really unfortunate that we couldn't use him down the stretch with his injury, because I know he would've made a significant impact. He's also a great guy off the ice and does a ton of community work, which is so important to the Gulls organization. I can't wait to see him back on the ice."
Rogosheske was the co-recipient (along with Doug MacIver) for San Diego's 2005-06 Community Player of the Year award.
Prior to joining the Gulls the 6-foot, 198-pounder from St. Paul Minn. spent three years at Bowling Green University in which he scored 22 points (8g, 14a) and amassed 119 penalty minutes in 105 games.
Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player contracts cannot be approved or registered by the ECHL until June 6.
The Gulls open their fourth season in the ECHL in October. Season ticket packages are currently on sale. For pricing and benefits, contact 619-224-GOAL, ext. 7.
