May 13, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND, OR - It hasn't taken long for Eric Rogers to make a name for himself in the Arena Football League. In just his third week with the team, he's piled up three league-wide honors, adding Russell Offensive Player of the Week and AFL Highlight of the Week titles to last week's Cutters Catch of the Week award.
RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rogers (6-4, 210, California Lutheran) collected 152 yards and four touchdowns on a single-game franchise record 13 receptions in Portland's 32-61 loss to the Arizona Rattlers in Week 9. The rookie wide receiver accounted for four of the Thunder's five scores in the game. He has caught a touchdown pass in all three games played this season.
AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Rogers hurdled the end zone wall to come down with a highlight reel touchdown catch in the Thunder's 32-61 loss to the Rattlers in Week 9. The nine-yard score made ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays, marking the second consecutive week a Rogers touchdown grab has been showcased in the segment.
The Thunder bring a two-game win streak into the Moda Center, where they'll take on the two-time defending champion Arizona Rattlers on May 11 at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 and carried on ESPN3 (streaming) as well as 750 AM (radio).
