Offensive Player of the Week

Game #83- Teams: HAM (11) @ TOR (34)

Winner (#): Jeff Johnson #33

Position: Running Back

Team: Toronto Argonauts

Highlights / Key Stats:

Johnson rushed six times for 40 yards and caught eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns.

Comments and Game Notes:

In his first start as an Argo, Johnson showed everyone that he can compete at a very high level.

Johnson was utilized as a receiver out of the backfield to take advantage of his good hands and running ability after the catch.

Johnson has been an Argonaut backup running back and a special teams' player for the last four years, but sometimes injuries allow players to come to the front and shine.

Jeff Johnson's performance was outstanding.

Team: Calgary Stampeders

Highlights / Key Stats:

Clark had four individual tackles, one special teams' tackle, one pass knockdown and one interception.

Comments and Game Notes:

Clark was in a zone! He seemed to know where the ball was going before it was released. He broke up a pass that could very well have turned into a touchdown. He came back later and intercepted a ball and headed to the end zone. Ten yards from a major he pitched the ball to a teammate to assure the score.

Brian Clark is a team player and part of an outstanding linebacker foursome.

Winner (#): Anthony Collier #97

Position: Defensive End

Team: Ottawa Renegades

Highlights / Key Stats:

Collier had three individual tackles, one quarterback sack and one interception which was returned five yards.

Comments and Game Notes:

Collier was also Week 18's Lineman of the Week. Comments were made in the past that he needed more consistency and be the best he could be every week.

Collier appears to have done just that.

He made a difficult interception look easy as he dropped off the line with the offensive end.

Collier has a great future and should be one of the building blocks of the Renegades' defence next season.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Game #84 - Teams: BC (19) @ EDM (22)

Winner (#): Sean Fleming #11

Position: Kicker

Team: Edmonton Eskimos

Highlights / Key Stats:

Fleming had four kickoffs times for 216 yards, punted eight times for 258 yards (longest 53 yards), kicked one convert and recovered one fumble. He was successful on each of his five field goal attempts for 36, 47, 28 42 and 36 yards. Fleming accounted for 16 of Edmonton's 22 points.

Comments and Game Notes:

Fleming was having a below average season, but he has fought adversity.

This was a pressure game for Fleming, trying to prove his worth as well as attempt to secure home field advantage in the playoffs for the Eskimos.

Fleming connected on his fifth field goal of the game with no time remaining on the clock with the score notched at 19. His 36-yarder gave the Eskimos the win and a shot at first place in the West.

Reggie Jackson "Mr. October" is quoted as saying "Weak is the man that doesn't stand up to adversity". Fleming is definitely not weak!
