Integrated program continues to get fans into the game through wireless voting
Toronto, ON - (June 22, 2005) - The Canadian Football League (CFL) and Rogers, the premiere partner of the CFL, announced today the return of the Rogers CFL Player Awards program for 2005. The season-long program allows CFL fans to select a "Player of the Game" in all 53 TSN broadcasts and culminates with the presentation of the Rogers CFL Fans' Choice Award at the Rogers Player Awards Ceremonies during Grey Cup week.
With thousands participating in the Rogers CFL Player of the Game awards last season, fans will once again have an opportunity to get into the game and register their player picks via Rogers Wireless' text messaging or online at www.cfl.ca during the fourth quarter of all games broadcast on TSN. Also returning to the program for 2005 are the Rogers CFL Players of the Week and Players of the Month awards, which are selected by an expert panel based on outstanding performance throughout the season.
"Heading into its third year, the Rogers CFL Player Awards program provides a great opportunity to showcase our athletes and to fully engage fans, whether they are watching the game in our stadiums or on television," said Brent Scrimshaw, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Partnerships with the Canadian Football League. "We are proud to be working with a partner like Rogers that has contributed so much to Canadian football over the last three years."
"Rogers' long-standing relationship with one of Canada's most valuable sports properties, the CFL, is reflective of our ongoing commitment to providing customers with access to the things that matter most to them," said John Boynton, Vice President, Marketing, Rogers Wireless Inc. "Through the Rogers CFL Player Awards, customers can use text messaging to connect with their favourite team, player and sports property from the stands, from their homes, or wherever they are within the vast Rogers Wireless network."
