
Rodriguez, Gelinas Win Weekly Awards

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has named Rockland Boulders OF Ryde Rodriguez and Quebec Capitales RHP Karl Gelinas as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
Rodriguez hit .429 in six games. In 21 at-bats, he collected nine hits, including three doubles and a home run, plated five runs and drove in eight. Rodriguez also walked twice, stole a base and had a slugging percentage of .714. In the 6-5 win over the Brockton Rox Wednesday, the Havana, CU resident went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and five RBI. On the season, Rodriguez is batting .273 with four home runs and 26 RBI.
Gelinas is the third consecutive Quebec pitcher to win the Pitcher of the Week award. The Quebec resident tossed eight shutout innings in the 4-0 win over the New York Federals Thursday. He allowed only four hits while fanning nine New York batters. Currently, Gelinas is 7-6 with an earned run average of 3.65.
