Rockies swept out of Missoula

August 17, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release

A tough four-game series in Missoula came to a close last night with the Rockies being thumped by the Osprey 12-2. The win gives Missoula their first five-game winning streak of the season and a .500 mark for the first time as well. With the loss, the Rockies are still tied with Ogden for first place at 9-8.

Casper still remains in the driver's seat for the playoffs, even with their four-game losing streak. They maintain a three-game lead on the Orem Owlz and are five games up on the Idaho Falls Chukars in the Wild Card standings for the remaining playoff spot.

Tuesday was strange night that just kept getting stranger for Casper. Starter Chaz Roe was forced to leave the game in the 3rd inning with tightness in his right forearm. After Roe left the game, Rockies skipper PJ Carey was ejected for arguing with the home plate umpire. Then smoke from a nearby fire halted play for over thirty minutes. When it was all said and done the Rockies had been swept in Missoula, losing all four games.

Casper gets a shot at redemption on Thursday night when they will host Missoula for a three-game series, as they open a seven-game home stand. Thursday is PJ Night at the ballpark. The fan that sports the best pajamas will win a brand new mattress and box spring from Plain's Furniture. Alan Johnson will get the start for the Rockies as Casper tries to get back to their winning ways at 7:05.
