Rockies' Spoof Night
July 20, 2007 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
CASPER, Wyoming - The Casper Rockies will hold their first ever Spoof Night on Saturday July 28th at Mike Lansing Field.
"Everything goes on Spoof Night. Expect the unexpected," says Rockies Director of Fun Matt Warneke.
Spoof
- Noun
1. a mocking imitation of someone or something, usually light and good-humored; lampoon or parody: The show was a spoof of college life.
2. a hoax; prank.
In the interest of pulling off the best hoax environment, the Rockies are asking fans to show up as their favorite celebrities. Anyone attempting an impersonation will be granted half off admission to the stadium. Our own "Johnny Cash" impersonator will be on hand to throw out the first pitch. The top three impersonators will then compete in a talent show for the Rockies Spoof Night Grand Prize with the crowd's applause being the judge.
The Casper Journal, who is sponsoring the first ever Spoof Night, will also be at Mike Lansing Field to forever commemorate the evening. The Casper Journal will bring portable printing presses to the field to allow fans to create their own "Mock Headlines." Imagine the headline, "John Doe wins game for the Rockies." It could happen on Spoof Night.
Normally, Mike Lansing Field provides an incomparable entertainment environment with between inning promotions like Deal or No Deal or Race the Mascot. On Spoof night, even these games aren't safe. Who knows maybe our mascot Hobart may actually win a race (which would be his first win ever). Then again, Hobart might have to beat an adult instead of a child. Who knows?
Even the game's 1st pitch will be a lampoon of normal first pitches. What if a Rockies player took the mound and threw out the first pitch to a Rockies fan behind the plate? It's all in play on Spoof Night.
What if our Hamburger Helper Toss contestants actually used real Hamburger Helper? What if our best seats in the house were awarded to the opposing manager and the home plate umpire? Or, what if the Rockies' Sweetheart of the game was given to a man? Anything can happen on Spoof Night.
The Rockies host the Ogden Raptors for an abbreviated three-game home stand July 27th to the 29th.
The home stand also includes a July 27th, Friday Night Fireworks show presented by Lantis Fireworks. Friday night will also be Balloon Fest at Mike Lansing Field. The home stand wraps up with our July 29th Casper Star Tribune Family Day
