Casper Ghosts News Release
Casper's Chaz Roe was stellar in his final outing as a member of 2005 Casper Rockies. The 18-year old, first rounder, hurled six shutout innings and fanned five Ogden hitters in Casper's 2-0 win. The win gives Roe a 5-2 season with Casper. Marlon Arias was solid in the loss for Ogden, striking out nine over his six innings of work.
Closer Andrew Johnston slammed the door on another Rockies win, working the 9th inning for his 17th save of the season. The Pioneer League record in a single season is 18 saves held by Medicine Hat's Michael Toney back in 1994.
On offense, 2nd baseman Corey Wimberly stayed in front for the batting crown, going 2-4. Wimberly goes into the last game of the year with a .383 batting average. The speedster from Alcorn State also stole two bases, bringing his league-high total to 35.
Rockies DH Geoff Strickland and left fielder Cole Garner drove in the Rockies two runs on the night.
Casper will go for the season-ending sweep of Ogden at 7:05 on Thursday. Alan Johnson is scheduled to pitch for Casper versus Ogden's Alvin Hayes.
