Casper Ghosts News Release
CASPER, Wyoming - The Casper Rockies are pleased to announce they will hold the nation's first ever BALCO appreciation night on Saturday August 4th at Mike Lansing Field.
BALCO (which stands for Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative) made national news when in 2003 it was revealed the lab was creating designer performance enhancing drugs for athletes.
Since San Francisco Giants OF Barry Bonds, who was the most prominent athlete connected with the BALCO scandal, is so close to catching Hank Aaron on the all-time home run list the Rockies decided there is no better way to allow fans to voice their support or displeasure than by spending a night at the field.
On BALCO night fans will be able to order "super-sized" beer and concession products... You know with a little extra juice to them. The Rockies will also serve up 'little smokies' instead of the normal Mike Lansing Field hot dogs. To top it off prices on hats size 8 and above will be discounted all night long as well.
Fans will not only be treated to super sized concession products, but will also be receiving a free steroid educational seminar throughout the game on the effects of using this performance enhancing drug. Staff will be wearing special "Property of BALCO" shirts that will have the slogan XXXXXL on the front.
Any fan wearing Barry Bonds apparel will be charged double to get in the gate, but those who dawn Hank Aaron merchandise will be let into the confines of Mike Lansing field free of charge.
The Rockies will also have a "talent" contest to find the fan with the largest head size.
According to reports, Chemist Patrick Arnold developed the then undetectable, performance-enhancing steroid called Tetrahydrogestrinone, which BALCO marketed as "The Clear". Conte, BALCO vice president James Valente, weight trainer Greg Anderson and coach Remi Korchemny had supplied a number of high-profile sports stars from the United States and Europe with The Clear and growth hormones for several years.
