Rockets Game Issued HNIC Jerseys Up For Bid For Charity

November 19, 2020 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Kelowna Rockets News Release

The Western Hockey League and the Kelowna Rockets are proud to partner with RE/MAX of Western Canada for RE/MAX Presents: WHL Suits Up to Promote Organ Donation in support of local chapters of The Kidney Foundation.

From January to March 2020, all 17 WHL member Clubs in Canadian markets either hosted or were set to host a theme game complete with special-edition Hockey Night in Canada-themed sweaters, crested with the fan-favourite powder blue logo that represented Hockey Night in Canada up until 1998.

New this year, WHL member Clubs will also pay tribute to the Logan Boulet Effect. A member of the SJHL's Humboldt Broncos, Boulet passed in the tragic bus crash that claimed the lives of 16 people on April 6, 2018. Boulet - who was only 21 years old at the time - earned widespread, posthumous commendation for his decision to have previously signed his organ donation card, ensuring a selfless act that provided the gift of life to others and sparked a national movement for organ donation registration at the same time.

Kelowna would've worn these jerseys at Prospera Place on March 14th in the now cancelled game against the Kamloops Blazers.

Rockets fans now have a chance to get their hands on the limited-edition Hockey Night in Canada-themed WHL sweaters through an online auction.

The auction will run until Thursday, December 3, 2020, on AuctionNow.

Kelowna's set of game issued jerseys, Ron MacLean and Don Cherry signed bobbleheads and Don Cherry signed jerseys are up for auction online with 100 percent of the proceeds from the auction going to the B.C. / Yukon branch of The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
