Rocket Make Additional Moves

December 31, 2008 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
P.E.I. Rocket News Release

The PEI Rocket announced today that they have acquired defenseman Jason Legault & right winger Maxime Lévesque from the Val-d'Or Foreurs in exchange for Matthew Lachaine and Jeremiah Coon-Come.

Legault is a 20 year old defenseman who was originally drafted 3rd overall by the Victoriaville Tigres in 2004. At 6'2", 220 pounds, Legault is a steady blueliner with a great shot from the point. In 2007-2008, Legault had 22 goals and 23 assists in 66 games, ranking him 10th among Q Defenseman in points, but tied for first in goals for a defenseman. In 35 games this season, Legault has tallied 6 goals and 15 assists with the last place Foreurs.

Lévesque (6'1", 195 lbs) is a 19 year old right winger who was originally drafted 22nd overall (2nd Round) by the Foreurs in the 2005 QMJHL Entry Draft. Originally from Rivière-du-Loup, Lévesque has 2 goals and 9 assists this year with the club. Last season, Lévesque had 9 goals and 11 assists in only 54 games with the Foreurs.

"It is exciting to add these two players to our roster. Legault is a very solid defenseman with an excellent point shot, while Lévesque is a solid two way player that has the potential to contribute offensively", said team President, Serge Savard, Jr. "With the changes we have made during the trading period, we are excited about the remainder of this season, but even more optimistic about next year as well with this core group of players" added Savard.

When speaking of the traded players, Savard said: "Matthew has been with our organization since he was 17 years old and it will be tough to see him leave. However, we are happy to be able to trade him to his hometown of Val-d'Or to complete his QMJHL career. Jeremiah will also be missed as he was a role player for our team, but again, he will be moving closer to his hometown of Mistissini".

Both Legault and Lévesque are expected to join the Rocket within the next 24-48 hours. The Rocket will play the next three games on the road at Bathurst (Jan 3), Halifax (Jan 4) and Moncton (Jan 6), but will return to home ice for games against Moncton on January 10th and Bathurst on January 11th at the Charlottetown Civic Centre.
