Rocket Announce New Street Hockey Festival

The PEI Rocket and Hockey PEI are excited to announce a brand new community event. The 1st Annual Rocket Street Hockey Festival will be taking place September 3rd and 4th in downtown Charlottetown. The PEI Rocket will donate proceeds of this event to minor hockey. The PEI Rocket annually supports the island team, which represents PEI in the prestigious Quebec International Peewee Tournament.
"We are extremely excited about this exciting new event. This is a great way for the PEI Rocket to continue our community outreach programs", said GM Kent Hudson. "It is a great way to kick off the excitement of the 2009-2010 PEI Rocket Season".
Don Cormier is the volunteer chairperson for the event and explains that "the event is being called a festival because it is much more than a street hockey tournament". He explained that the event will have many different activities included:
- PEI Rocket players will take part in a celebrity street hockey game
- Rocket players will be available for pictures and autographs
- Every participant in the festival will be invited, and given a free ticket, to attend the PEI Rocket versus the Moncton Wildcats exhibition game on September 4th!
- Participants will receive a T-shirt
- Teams are guaranteed 4 games
- All participants will be eligible for a Prize draw, which will include the grand prize of a PEI Rocket flex pass.
- Division winners will be recognized at centre during Friday evenings PEI Rocket game.
- The 2009-2010 PEI Rocket Roster will be announced on Thursday evening at the Celebrity Street Hockey Game.
The event is generating a great deal of excitement and media attention. Space is limited! So please register your teams early to avoid disappointment.
Event Details
- $150 per team (5 members per team)
- Games - Each team is guaranteed 4 games during the festival
- Divisions:
o Seniors (older than 1995)
o Bantam (Born 1996, 1995 or younger)
o Peewee (Born 1997, 1998 or younger)
o Atom (Born 2000, 1999 or younger)
o Novice (Born 2001 or Younger)
