Rock Stars to hold golf tournament

May 1, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Chicago Rockstars News Release

Chicago, IL. The ABA Chicago Rock Stars professional basketball team announced they will be holding their First Annual Golf Outing at the Joe Louis "The Champ" Golf Course on June 2nd. "We are very excited about the upcoming event," said Nicole Keith, Director of Community Relations. "The Champ" golf course is located at 13100 S. Halsted in Riverdale, Illinois.

Named after former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis, Riverdale's Joe Louis "The Champ" Golf Course is a city favorite because of its championship layout. A challenging course to begin with, the signature 614 yard, par five 7th hold (the second longest par five in the Chicagoland area) as well as "The Champ's" large undulating greens raise the stakes.

Joe Louis has three sets of tees, 52 sand traps and occasional water. Routed deep in Chicago's history, you'll find "The Champ" to be a formidable foe just as the former Heavyweight Champion of the World himself did the during the many rounds he played there.

Portions of all proceeds will go to the Chicago Rock Stars Foundation. CRF is a 501 (c) 3 organization that provides highly talented high school students scholarships to the university of their choice in pursuance of careers in sports or entertainment business. CRF wants to mold the next "first round draft picks" of sport business and the next "platinum recording artists" of the entertainment business.

There will be an 8am registration and a 9am shot gun start. Golfing will be followed by a lunch reception, award ceremony and a silent auction.
