Rock Set to Battle Rebel in Hamilton
November 14, 2002 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
(Toronto, Ontario) â Thursday November 14, 2002 - The Toronto Rock announced today that a pre-season exhibition game will be held in Hamilton at Copps Coliseum. The game that will pit the NLL Championship Toronto Rock against the Ottawa Rebel, will take place on Sunday December 22, 2003 at 3:00pm.
"We've very excited about this game. We have always wanted to host an exhibition game but were skeptical in respect to location, after dealing with Copps for our training facility, we realized it was a perfect fit. It's a phenomenal sport with hard-hitting, high scoring action. This is a great opportunity for the Rock to display the game to fans that may not have the opportunity to visit Toronto " â Chad Richardson, Manager of Business/Community Development
The Rock is extremely happy with the agreement made with Copps, primarily due to the fact that the team can maintain the trend with respect to offering affordable ticket prices. Adult tickets will cost $20.00 and youth tickets will be $10.00.
Tickets will be available for purchase through the Copp's Coliseum box office, all Ticketmaster locations, www.ticketmaster.ca .
"Hamilton is a great city and has great sports fans, they have proven that through the loyal 17,000 Tiger Cat fans that show up every game, our goal is to touch that same market and hopefully educate potential fans with our exciting sport" said Chad Richardson
The Rock and Rebel are members of the 12-team National Lacrosse League (NLL) that hosts four Canadian teams and eight American teams. In the last four years in Toronto the Rock have attracted more then 16,000 fans per game to the Air Canada Centre, while winning three of the last four Championships (1999, 2000, 2002).
