Rock Head to Philadelphia for Saturday Matinee
March 15, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
Toronto - Saturday afternoon at 1pm ET, the Toronto Rock (7-3) will face the Philadelphia Wings (5-4) at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. Fans can watch the game live online at NLL.com on The Lacrosse Network on YouTube.
The Rock have had their struggles against the Wings and as recent as this year's Toronto home opener tasted defeat at the hands of Philadelphia. It's something Rock captain Colin Doyle knows and thinks a better start could be a key to success this weekend.
"Saturday will be a real good opportunity to come out with some desperation and prove that we can play a good first quarter," Doyle went on to explain. "It's tough to dig yourself out of holes in this league. We need to find that desperation right off the hop."
The Rock can become the first team in the NLL to clinch a playoff spot this weekend if they beat Philadelphia and either Minnesota or Colorado lose this weekend.
"Clinching a playoff spot is everyone's goal," said Doyle. "Every team wants to play at home when it counts the most. This is an important game. If we can beat them it gives us a little bit of breathing room in the standings."
Toronto hasn't played on the road since earlier in the month when they suffered a tough overtime loss to the Minnesota Swarm. However, that is the Rock's only loss away from home this season as they sit at 4-1 on the road this season.
Philadelphia's goaltender Brandon Miller was assessed a one-game suspension after getting involved in a fight that was already in progress during the Wings loss to Washington last weekend. At the present time, it is unclear as to whether or not Miller will appeal the suspension which would make him eligible to play this weekend.
The Rock will be back at home on Sunday, March 24th against Edmonton at 3pm at Air Canada Centre when it will be Toronto Sun Autograph Day. For the best ticket in town, visit www.torontorock.com or call 416-596-3075.
