December 26, 2002 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
(Toronto, Ontario) – Thurdsday December 26th, 2002 – Tomorrow night the Toronto Rock open their National Lacrosse League season against the Albany Attack in Albany, a setting that is very familiar to the Rock squad. This will be the very first time since last years Champion’s Cup, when the Rock squeezed out a winner 13-12 in front of over 10,000 Attack fans to win the coveted NLL Championship.
This years Rock teams has lost four of their 17 starters, but have picked up momentum with a recent trade that landed NLL All-pro Kevin Finneran. Finneran will join leading scorer Colin Doyle and rookie of the year Blaine Manning as the top players will try to combat the lack of goal scoring.
“In recent publication’s we have noted that the Rock are ranked anywhere from first to fifth in the league. Everyone always looks at the goals columns and feels that the team lacks in scoring, as a forward that doesn’t do anything but make us play harder” said Blaine Manning of the Rock.
The Rock have two away games, tomorrow night in Albany and then January 3rd in Denver against the recently acquired Mammoth, before the teams home opener on Saturday January 11th at 3:30p.m.
