Rochester Rhinos News Release

Rochester, NY - Rhinos Stadium had a new electric feel to it on Saturday night for the team's home opener, a buzz ran through the air that had not been felt in some time. Raising the championship banner from last season only added to the excitement of the potential for the team both on and off the field this season. All was capped off by a 2-1 home victory over Montreal.

For starters, the team welcomed city Mayor Warren along with many of her top officials to celebrate the Rhinos new season. Many influential members of the media also attended the game including popular TV and radio personalities.

The list of guests also included new sponsors such as Sustainable Energy Development who introduced a new solar panel cell phone charging station. Other notable sponsors and suite holders included M&T Bank, Coca Cola, Faber Homes, Nixon Peabody, Imprintable Solutions, USA Payroll, Flaum Management, along with team owners David and Wendy Dworkin.

As fans entered the stadium they were greeted by bag pipers, street musicians, live band, and a guest DJ. Two horse mounted city police officers stationed outside the main gates was also a fan favorite. Supporters also lined up for a taste of food from the most popular food trucks in Rochester, including The Meatball Truck, Cheesed and Confused, Macarolin' and Effortlessly Healthy.

"It was surreal," said Rhinos owner, David Dworkin. "After the national anthem I took a look around and realized all these people were here to see the Rhinos and root on their home team and it felt great. There was such a build up for us to get here and to actually see it come together after only forty- five days is excellent."

"Overall the game went really well," Wendy Dworkin confirmed. "People really seemed to enjoy the food trucks, and the bounce house and music. After all the planning to see the sun shining and fans in the stands, it's great to finally get started and know that we've come so far in a short time and that the best is ahead of us."

The Rhinos next home game is this Saturday, April 30 at 6:05. Tickets are available at Rhinossoccer.com. For group and season tickets visit our website www.rhinossoccer.com or call the Rochester Rhinos Ticket Department at (585) 454-KICK (5425).
