Dallas Rattlers News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers conclude a two-game series with the Long Island Lizards on Saturday, June 14th at Bishop Kearney Field. The 7:35 p.m. contest is the second and final regular-season meeting between the two Major League Lacrosse teams.

The Lizards took the first game, 16-8, on June 6th at the Mitchel Athletic Complex, extending their winning streak to six games over the Rattlers. Rochester has never beaten Long Island, going 0-5 in the regular season and 0-1 in the postseason.

Former Rattler Brian Dougherty made a team-record tying 28 saves in the win over Rochester and was named the MLL Defensive Player of the Week. Dougherty was part of a five-player deal in January that also brought Chris Cercy and Conor Denihan over to the Lizards. Rochester received attackman Casey Powell and goalie Brian Carcaterra in the deal. Powell is third on the Rattlers with seven points (3+4) this season.

Rookie Gewas Schindler leads the Rattlers with nine points (7+2) in two games. He ranks third in the league in goals and is tied for fourth in points. The attackman was honored last week as the Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week, following a seven-point (5+2) debut on May 31st against the Bridgeport Barrage.

Rochester made two player moves heading into this weekend. Midfielder Mike Mollot was been placed on the 23-man active roster, and attackman Will Driscoll was released.

Mollot played college lacrosse at the University of Maryland from 1999-2003 and was a two-time USILA All-American. The senior captain finished his four-year career with 172 points, making him the 14th all-time leading scorer at Maryland. His 95 career assists also place him ninth on the Maryland all-time list. He will wear No. 17 this weekend. The game against Long Island will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC and SportsJuice.com. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at rochesterrattlers.com or by calling (585) 454-5425.

On Saturday, fans will receive a Rochester Rattlers magnet schedule, courtesy of HSBC Bank, as they enter the field. Rattler fans can also enjoy food, fun and live music at the Rochester Rattlers' pregame party. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. at Bishop Kearney Field. The event is sponsored by Bud Light, Foodlink, Zweigle's, Atlantis Pools & Spas, the Democrat & Chronicle, and Massage on University.

The Rattlers practice on Friday, June 13th at 8:00 p.m. at Bishop Kearney Field. The session is free and open to the public. The media are encouraged to attend.

Rochester hits the road next weekend, as it travels to play the Boston Cannons at 7:00 p.m. The Rattlers return home on Friday, June 27th to play the Baltimore Bayhawks at 7:35 p.m. The Rattlers and Bayhawks (1-1) are tied for first place in the National Division.
