RoadRunners in the Community

February 8, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Topeka Pilots News Release

After sweeping the Bulls over the weekend, the Runners wasted no time in getting back to Topeka and putting themselves to work in the community. They were up bright and early today to visit the folks at Breakthrough House and the kids at North Fairview Elementary.

The Reading with the RoadRunners Program (sponsored by Cold Stone Creamery) is one of the Runners most popular events and this morning was no different. Jeff Makowski, Jack Nickels, Marshall Bowery, and Marcus Russell visited two second grade classes, read books selected by the kids, and talked about hockey, school, and what it's like to be a Topeka RoadRunner. Afterwards, each student received a bookmark good for free ice cream at Cold Stone.

Meanwhile, at Breakthrough House, it was a festive morning of bingo for the residents as Yu Hikosaka, Tristan Foltz, Shawn Brennan, and Johnny Walker read off numbers and helped keep score on the cards. Everyone wore party hats, glasses, and had a wonderful time winning great donated prizes including RoadRunner tickets, pucks, and so on.
