Merulla Named East Division Player of The Week ... Again
February 8, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Philadelphia Rebels News Release
The Rebels Michael Merulla was selected as the East Division Player of the Week for week ending February 7. This is the second consecutive week that Merulla was named player of the week. It is the third time he has received the award.
Despite the team only having played one game this past weekend, Merulla managed to have a five point game (four goals and an assist). He now leads the team in total points with 41 points and goals with 21. "Mike just continues to get better and better. It is very surprising he remains uncommitted at this point. I could not be more proud of the strides he has made in his game and off the ice since his arrival back in October," said head coach Joe Coombs.
Ryan Cusin was named honorable mention. He had five points (all assists) in Saturday night's win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights.
This is the third time this season the two have been recognized by the league for Player of the Week. The last time was week ending December 13. However, the roles were reversed for week ending November 24 when Cusin was named Player of the Week and Merulla was selected as honorable mention.
