March 25, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Topeka Pilots News Release
The Topeka RoadRunners needed to build on Friday night's win to stay in the hunt for first place in the South. Four goals and a sweep later, another strong effort put the team in control of its own destiny and capped a 6-1-1 record against their rival Amarillo Bulls.
For the second straight night, the Runners first goal of the game was waved off by the officials. And for the second straight night, it didn't matter. At 9:26 of the first period, JB Baker punched in one that counted (assisted by Mike Gornall and Daniel Rzavsky) and gave the Runners a 1-0 lead. After the bulls tied the game heading into the second, Daniel Rzavsky and Beau Dommer reestablished the Topeka lead with goals at 4:18 and 10:06 respectively to make it 3-1. The Bulls would narrow the lead to one in the second before Tyler Hayes put the game out of reach midway through the third period, clinching the second sweep over the Bulls this season.
The Runners travel to Wenatchee for the final three games of the regular season this weekend beginning on Friday at 9pm.Topeka can secure the regular season South Division Championship, a first round bye in the division playoffs, and home ice advantage throught the tournament with a sweep against the Wild.
