Minnesota Magicians News Release

Game Week Recap:

It was a tough week for the Minnesota Magicians, as the playoff-bound team lost four consecutive 1-goal contests vs. Midwest Divisional foes. The regular season wraps up this week at Richfield Ice Arena as the Aberdeen Wings come to town for a two-game series on Friday and Saturday.

On Tuesday, the Magicians hosted the Cloquet Wilderness at Richfield Ice Arena in front of a light St. Patrick's Day crowd. The game was filled with back and forth action and a winner could not be decided in regulation. Ultimately, the Magicians fell in overtime to the Wilderness who are currently in a deadlock with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a race for the division title.

On Thursday, the Magicians once again hosted the Wilderness in front of the home crowd at Richfield Arena. Despite scoring the game's first two goals in the first period, the Magicians were unable to hang onto the lead and the end result was the same as Tuesday, with the Wilderness walking away from the game with a 3-2 victory.

On Friday, the Magicians traveled to La Crosse, Wisconsin to face another Midwest Division rival in the Coulee Region Chill. Again, the two teams fought in a closely contested matchup throughout the entire game. Unfortunately, the end result was another disappointing 3-2 loss.

On Saturday, the Magicians returned to Richfield for a rematch with the Chill, which was the last regular season matchup between the two teams. It was a busy night for the scoreboard operator, as the Chill and Magicians combined for a total of 9 goals throughout the evening. Despite the offensive surge, the Magicians were hampered by two late shorthanded goals by the Chill and the final score of the contest was 5-4 in favor of Coulee Region.
