Florida Tropics SC News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Tropics have clinched a playoff spot, so now the goal is to hold off the rest of the Eastern Conference over the final three weeks of the regular season.
Florida, at 16-3, holds a 1 1/2 game over Utica for first place in the East, and will play in Rochester Friday and home Sunday against St. Louis. If Utica and Florida finish with the same regular season record, the tie breaker for first place would be goal differential since the two teams did not meet in the regular season. Going into the weekend, the Tropics are at +76 while Utica stands at +38.
The Tropics will be meeting Rochester for the third time this year, having won on the road 17-4 in early January - setting team records for most goals in a game, and largest margin of victory - and 14-3 a few weeks later in Lakeland. This will be the second meeting of the season against the Ambush, both in Lakeland, with the Tropics taking a 7-1 decision on Jan. 25.
Ricardo Carvalho leads the Tropics with 19 goals and 22 assists. Anthony Razzano is the Lancers top scorer with nine goals and eight assists. J.T. Thomas paces the St. Louis offense with 23 goals and 9 assists. Florida's Hugo Silva leads all netminders in the MASL with a 3.97 goals against average.
Both games will be broadcast live at mast.tv, and Sunday's home game against St. Louis will also be broadcast live on WTTA-TV, Great 38 with kickoff at 3:05 p.m. Friday's start time in Rochester is 7:05 p.m.
