Metropolitan Riveters News Release

The Buffalo Beauts (10-4-0) will roll back into New Jersey this Sunday to play the Metropolitan Riveters (12-2-0) in an attempt to extend their winning streak to nine games in the Twitter Game of the Week at 3:00 pm. The Beauts beat their rivals last weekend with three, third-period goals in a short span that flipped a 1-3 deficit into a 4-3 lead. In their previous matchup, Buffalo blitzed the Rivs with three, third-period goals to break a 2-2 tie in the 5-3 win. The Riveters won the first three games of the season series.

Last weekend it was the Beauts top line that stepped up in the third period as the trio combined for five points. Hayley Scamurra got the party started with her goal before she and Kourtney Kunichika assisted on Maddie Elia's power-play tally. Elia and Scamurra would then assist on Kunichika's game-winning goal. In the loss, Kiira Dosdall and Bray Ketchum picked up two assists each, while Kelsey Koelzer had a goal and an assist for the Riveters.

All-Time Series: This will be the 18th matchup between these two franchise's over the past three seasons with Buffalo holding a one-game lead in the win column: Riveters (8-5-3), Beauts (9-6-1). In games that have gone past regulation, the Riveters have won one shootout and the Beauts have won two shootouts and one in overtime.

Buffalo Stampede: Buffalo's top scorers in the season series all reside on their top line: Scamurra: 3g-4a, Kunichika: 2g-4a, Elia: 2g-3a have combined for 18 points over the five game's against the Riveters.

Rookie Standouts: Both teams have players from their 2016 Draft Class that should be in consideration for Rookie of the Year. For the Riveters Jenny Ryan (Round 3/9th overall) has been a huge addition to their blueline, she leads all rookies in points (15), assists (12), and power play points (9). For the Beauts Maddie Elia (Round 5/18th overall) has helped offset the loss of two-time All-Star Kelley Steadman up front, she ranks 9th in the league in points (13), 7th in assists (8), 8th in shots on goal (38), and fourth in face-off wins (127).

Durable Dosdall: With the team since their inception, Kiira Dosdall is having a career-season with the Riveters in 2017-18. The blueliner has 10 points (all assists) this season, setting a new career-high. She had 11 career points (3g-8a) entering this season. Six of her assists have come on the power play, and she has only taken two penalties all season.
